Chiropractic is the most sought after mode of alternative medicine, and the largest form of drugless, non-surgical healthcare in the world. As an organized profession, chiropractic has existed for over 100 years, however, back care has been around for thousands of years. We have artifacts and recorded evidence from ancient Egyptian, Roman and Chinese culture, from those who labored to alleviate their patients’ suffering.

Although, chiropractic has a reputation as dealing with neck and back pain, chiropractic’s focus is on life force, the nervous system which is our master controller, and on correcting subluxation of the human spine. When subluxation or misalignment is corrected, the nervous system–our master controller more fully expresses itself, thus greater life force, greater health.

Back pain and neck pain are very prevalent, affecting more than 80% of the population at some point in their lives. Disorders of the spine are not uncommon and lead to a wide array of musculoskeletal and visceral problems. Back pain is the number one reason for doctor visits and the number one reason people take a day(s) off from work.

The most important causes of spinal problems :

The underlying causes of spinal and musculoskeletal pain are many. Posture, often overlooked plays a key role. Too long at the computer, too long on improper shoes, lack of exercise and obesity, the repetitive stress of certain types of labor, prolonged forward head extension while texting, as well as sports injuries and motor vehicular accident are all reasons for pain and delitirious affects on the spine.

How does chiropractic treat and rehabilitate the body?

The nervous system is the master controller of the human body. Within days of an egg being fertilized by a sperm, what can be seen under the microscope is a primitive grey streak. This is the rudimentary beginnings of the nervous sytsem. The human body handles and organizes itself under the control and direction of the nervous system. Millions of signals from the brain to the body and from the body to the brain are sent each moment via the spinal cord. Therefore, chiropractic treats misalignment/subluxation of the spine as it is an impediment to proper transmission of nerve information and communication. A nervous system that functions without interferance is a key component of heatlh.

What common and not so common conditions are treated by chiropractic doctors?

  • Chiropractic is often part of a full scalle medical rehabilitation programme post-surgery
  • Biomechanical and spinal pain is treated naturally and non-surgically
  • Postural and joint problems—knees, shoulders, hips etc
  • Numbness and tingling of the upper and lower extremities
  • Neurological disorders and paralysis, loss of function
  • Migraine headaches, dizziness, tinnitus
  • bone and muscular problems in children

And many patients report that while undergoing chiropractic care, their digestion is better, their asthma has decreased, their sleep is better, their allergies are not so severe, they have more energy.
